Pantone Wedding Color 2012

With the year half way through, lets take a peek at how Pantone’s color of the year has influenced this year’s wedding celebrations. But first, lets discuss a little bit about Pantone’s ability to influence more than just the color selection for our interior walls.

Pantone Color of the Year 2012

Last winter Pantone, the world renowned authority in color, announced the Pantone 2012 Color of the year – Tangerine Tango 17-1463. Pantone’s annual color selection influences color pallets for fashion, interior design, and cosmetics seen all over the spring/summer fashion week runways and splashed all over the pages of your favourite girly magazines. Pantones’s color selection not only is selected to influence what colors you see on the clothing racks and makeup counters, but it is selected to influnce or rather inspire how we live our lives. Last year the Pantone color of the year 2011 was Honeysuckle, a vibrant and energetic pink hue to encourage us to face our troubles with spirit, enthusiasm, and vigor. This year’s color reddish-orange hue, Tangerine-Tango, is meant to boost our energy, recharge us, and inspire us to move forward.

Tangerine Tango in Fashion and Beauty

Tangerine Tango was hot on the runways for Spring/Summer fashions. Some of the designers who notably used this color in their collections include Tommy Hilfiger, Elie Tahari, Nanette Lapore, Peter Som and Charolette Ronson, to name a few. Not so amped about committing an entire outfit to the cause? Then think about adding tangerine accessories providing pops of color into your wardrobe, sure to brighten up any outfit, and maybe even your day.

Of course my favourite part, is Tangerine’s influence in cosmetics. Many of the must have beauty picks for the season have included tangerine nail polishes, lip colors, blushers, and shadows. Now this might seem frightening for some as we might start having flash backs to childhood of the old lady down the street in bright orange lipstick and rollers, however done correctly this fun shade can be the perfect solution to the “I don’t have time to put on any makeup” scenario – foundation, powder, mascara, and my super fun new tangerine lip color, and done!  For the less bold, I say try a tangerine tinted lipgloss. Tangerine eyeshadow? Sure! Paired with a neutral, just add for a pop of color to the lid for a great summery day look. Amazing for blue eyes. Blue and orange are at the opposite spectrum of the color wheel, so tangerine eyeshadow actually compliments blue eyes the best. People will be so shocked at how blue your eyes are, they may not even notice the awesome color you are rocking on your eyelids.

One of nature’s more vibrant colors, check out these flower arrangements! These bright florals are so bold that they can pretty much hold their own. If you are on a floral budget,  or just seeking simplicity with a pop, these booming buds might be a great way to go.

Check out this tangerine wedding dress! I know. This is far from traditional. But I love this dress so much, I just had to share. Maybe a great inspiration for bridesmaids dresses.

With Tangerine Tango currently infused into our lives, I wonder what the color authority will inspire us with next year. We shall see as they rest of this year’s current events unfold, the announcement comes in December!

Until then, live life face forward and gain energy for the beauty around us.
