Here are three easy home remedies to protect and repair your hair, that wont break the bank.
AVOCADO HAIR MASK
Great for dry and damaged hair.
1 Avocado
1 Egg Yolk
1 tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Mixing bowl
Shower cap
Avocado is a wonder food (fruit) that not only makes you look good from the inside, but on the out! Rich in vitamin B and E, minerals, anti-oxidants, and yummy fats, – avocados moisturize the hair and prevent breakage providing an amazing base for this hair mask. Because Avocados are so readily available in the South West, this hair treatment is perfect for Arizonans battling the hot and dry summer climate. Egg yolk are packed with protein and lectin, adding strength and moisture back into the hair. Olive Oil helps to tame frizz and add shine to the hair. I recommend using extra virgin or cold press olive oil because they have a higher nutrient content to them (compared to regular or pure olive oils).
Avocado Hair Mask Mixture: Mash and mix one whole avocado in a bowl, one egg yolk and one table spoon of olive oil. Apply and massage to wet/ damp hair. Make sure to massage into the scalp if you have a dry scalp. Pile hair and clip hair on top of the head, cover with a shower cap. Let sit for 20 -30 mins. Rinse hair till water runs clear. Shampoo and condition.
COCONUT OIL HAIR CONDITIONER
Add moisture and control frizz
1 jar of Virgin Coconut Oil (use a s needed)
Shower cap
Coconut oil is an amazing smelling oil that can be used for both a hair conditioning treatment (hot or room temperature) and a styling aid. Taming frizz, adding shine, and conditioning the hair and scalp, coconut oil is great for combating both dry and humid weather.
Coconut Oil as a hot oil treatment: heat 2 – 4 table spoons of coconut oil in a small bowl for approximately 20 seconds in the microwave. Unlike olive oil, coconut oil is heat stable and maintains the integrity of the nutrients when heated. -That is why coconut oil is amazing for cooking. Section hair and massage oil into each section. Pile hair and clip hair on top of the head, cover with a shower cap. Let sit for 30 – 60 mins. Rinse hair, shampoo one to two times to get the excess oil out, and condition as normal.
Coconut Oil as Hair Styling Aid: Coconut oil is great to use daily to help style your hair. Men can use it in place of or in conjunction with a palm aid. Women can run the oil through the ends of the hair to add shine and tame frizz. You can even run it though the ends of hair, sleep in a few braids, and wake up with soft beachy waves.
*Use coconut oil all over your skin as a moisturizer. Smells great for Summer! I like to layer with a vanilla scented perfume.
